Alianzas Estratégicas

GS1 trabaja en una estrecha colaboracion con las siguientes organizacioens:

International Standardisation Bodies

The purpose of these liaisons is to ensure that GS1 standards are endorsed by these bodies and gain full international recognition.

International Standards Organisation (ISO)

GS1 plays an active role in a number of ISO groups with ISO/IEC/JTC1/SC31 being the most important. ISO/IEC JTC1/SC31 is focused on Automatic Identification and Data Capture (AIDC). The secretariat for ISO/IEC JTC1/SC31 is provided by GS1 US (through the American National Standard Institute) and many GS1 Member Organisations take part in this process at all levels.

ISO/IEC JTC1/SC31 also has formal links to regional standards bodies such as the European Committee for Standardisation (CEN). Website : SC31 Home Page.

UN/EDIFACT

GS1 liaises with all levels of the UN/EDIFACT (United Nations Directories for Electronic Data Interchange for Administration, Commerce and Transport) organisation. The objective is to ensure the EDIFACT development process considers the needs of GS1 user companies. GS1 eCom standards are closely linked with UN/EDIFACT. Website : UN/EDIFACT welcome page.

International User Groups and Official Bodies

GS1 collaborates with a number of international user groups. In addition to those listed below, the interests of GS1 are represented at meetings with inter-governmental organisations, such as the World Customs Organisation (WCO), well as industry associations (e.g., Healthcare).

GCI (Global Commerce Initiative)

GCI is a voluntary body created to improve the performance of the international supply chain for consumer goods through the collaborative development and endorsement of recommended standards and key business processes.

GCI operates through an Executive Board composed of senior representatives of more than 45 companies drawn equally from manufacturing and retailing and doing business across continents or via global supply chains. It operates under the sponsorship of eight existing organisations representing the interests of one million businesses, large and small. Website : www.gci-net.org.

ISBN (International Standard Book Number)

For many years GS1 has had a close relationship with ISBN. The agreement between the two organisations allows for the ISBN number to bar coded in a GS1 compatible format. Website : http://www.isbn-international.org/.

ISSN (International Standard Serial Number)

For many years GS1 has had a close relationship with ISSN. The agreement between the two organisations enables for the ISSN number to bar coded in a GS1 compatible format. Website : http://www.issn.org/.

AIM (Association for Automatic Identification and Mobility)

AIM is the global trade association for the Automatic Identification and Data Capture (AIDC) industry. GS1 liaises with AIM Global and many GS1 Member Organisations and national AIM offices cooperate closely. The purpose of these contacts is to ensure that GS1 Member Organisations and their member companies are aware of developments in the field of automatic identification and that the products supplied by AIM members support and meet the requirements of GS1 standards.
